Empordà Oil

The quality and individuality of the olive oil of the Protected Denomination of Origin “Oli de l’Empordà” are endorsed by the specific varieties of the region: Argudell, Corivell and Verdal (Llei de Cadaqués); and at the end of the 20th century the Arbequina variety was introduced. The Empordà olive oil has a clear, clean and transparent appearance. It presents notable complexity, with aromas reminiscent of fennel, almond and anises. The flavour and the sensations change according to fruit that has produced it. The Argudell and Corivell varieties have a delicate balance between sweet and sour, while the Llei de Cadaqués variety gives rise to a ripe, fruity oil with a touch of spiciness.

In Empordà's mills you can still see oil being produced using traditional methods. You can find them in La Bisbal, Torroella de Montgrí, Ventalló, Pau, Cabanes, Vilafant and Galliners.
