Sant Pere Pescador Apples

The fields around Sant Pere Pescador, in the Empordà plain, are largely dedicated to the cultivation of fruit trees. In particular, some excellent apples are harvested, famous for being especially tasty, and certified as a product with a protected geographical indication (IPG): "Apple of Girona". The cultivated varieties include Golden, Red Delicious, Gala and Granny Smith. They are eaten raw, but also cooked, both in main courses and in desserts, and you will find them in the region's markets and greengrocers.
