Salvador Dali's birthplace

Historical Heritage

The famous painter Salvador Dalí i Domènech was born on 11 May 1904 in this 1898 Art Nouveau building, designed by the architect Josep Azemar and a plaque commemorates this event from 1961 to 2023.

The Dalí family lived on the mezzanine floor of this property at Monturiol Road, no. 6 (today no. 20), where the painter's father, Salvador Dalí Cusí, had his notary's office on the ground floor.

In the summer of 1912 the family left this building to move to the second floor of No. 10 (today No. 24) in the same Monturiol Road.

Here, where it all began, in the Salvador Dalí Birthplace, you will find a unique space in the world to get to know the artist and understand all his work.
