29th August to 1st September Music Festival Acústica

The Acústica, which won the 2012 best festival award of the ARC (Professional Association of Agents, Promoters and Managers of Catalonia), has become a leading festival on the Catalan scene for professionals, artists and festival goers. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the festival, the 'Salvador Dalí Sings' show was created, in which the artists Estrella Morente, Martirio, Ana Torroja, Amaral, Dolo Beltrán, Gerard Quintana, Pau Riba, Love of Lesbian, Kiko Veneno, Albert Pla, Enric Casasses and Sol Picó sang the poems of Dalí to music arranged by Pascal Comelade, the orchestra conductor. The function was hosted by Alice Cooper and Amanda Lear. The Figueres Acústica Festival began in 2001 as an emerging festival with small-scale concerts for audiences of around 3000. Ten years down the line and it is drawing in audiences of 60,000, a spectacular increase that would not have been possible without the support of the media, public authorities and, above all, festival goers.

Over the course of ten years, the Acústica has made a name for itself by creating its own original and distinctive productions. Some of them have been showcased at the festival itself, while others that have been produced in collaboration with other organisations have toured Catalonia. Examples include 'Crazy for you: Tribute to Sau' and 'Land and Culture', featuring Joanjo Bosk, Ivette Nadal and Meritxell Gené (2009), or 'The new Catalan pop' (2007), among others.
